Bald Eagle in the sun!

January 20, 2012 in Nearby Landbirds

The recent onset of colder weather has resulted in numerous Bald Eagle sightings along the Merrimack River in Lawrence.  This Bald Eagle was spotted on Wednesday morning from an overlook on Merrimack Street.  Later in the afternoon, a total of three adult Bald Eagles were observed in trees overhanging the river on the north side.  The Bald Eagle has a dark brown body, white head, neck, and tail, bright yellow eyes and a massive yellow bill. The typical adult Bald Eagle has an awesome 6-7 foot wingspan!
