Just happened to catch both Peregrines atop the roof at the most northeast corner of the New Balance building. This is a very normal morning location particularly when the bright sun is shining. They were both just loafing around in close to one another. The male then flew to a ledge directly above the main entrance to New Balance on South Union Street. The female remained in place and she picked, preened, cleaned and discharged to the street below!

The Peregrines were out and about on election morning! They were initially observed loitering around the SE corner of the rooftop located at 200 Merrimack St. at the corner of South Union St. The male was perched at the roof peak and the female walked up and around the slanted part of that roof. After going up to the top of the nearby parking garage, the view improved quite a bit. Something caught the female’s attention and she launched off the roof heading south and made chase after something. Later, she circled around the parking garage top level a few times chasing pigeons. Then to my surprise, she perched atop the garage elevator roof providing a much closer view!

While driving north on South Union St. and crossing the railroad tracks just before Merrimack St., had a chance to look up at the south side (sunny) of the 200 Merrimack St. building. It was a pleasant surprise to observe one of the adult Peregrines perched on a protruding short steel beam. This has been one of many perches around the building. It launched into flight and landed on one of the nearby rooftop peaks. Later it flew off to the west and perched on one of the round silver posts in the NSTAR facility just down the street.

Another late afternoon show watching the female in flight mode near the Clock Tower. This was a beautiful series of flight and landing moments in and around the nearby Nstar field yard on Merrimack St. The spectacular late afternoon sun provided extraordinary lighting. What a treat to watch and observe in close proximity!

Another busy observation session watching the fall peregrine show from Merrimack St. near the Clock Tower. The female provided the perch and flight show as the male remained perched atop the Viking ship above the weathervane!

While heading north on South Union St. and approaching the lights at Merrimack St., noticed a probable adult Peregrine perched on the NE corner of the New balance building. It was at the peak of one of the triangular pediments. Pulled into the store/employee parking lot for a better look. the lighting was terrific but becoming more overhead just past 9:30 AM. The peregrine bolted from its perch in a tuck to gain speed. It headed SE towards the ground on the north side of the Monarch Lofts apartment building. Moments later it retunred to the NB roof. All in all, fun to watch the takeoff and speed tuck! Sequence of photos provides ability to make positive ID on the 6*/4* black over green leg bands on left ankle! Photos posted online at:

An unexpected delight to find this adult Peregrine perched on a upper loading door sill on the south side of Pemberton Mill. the morning was warm, bright, and sunny with little wind. After a stop to look out over the Merrimack from the Duck Bridge on Union Street, noticed a few feathers falling gently from the mill building. Falling feathers usually merits a further look! Sure enough, the Peregrine was found on an old loading door ledge just below the roof. It sat quietly picking apart prey and then started to squawk a bit. This is yet another new perch location and an unexpected find!

While looking for Kingbirds from the Duck Bridge, the unmistakable call of the Peregrines floated through the air. After looking all around in the normal perch locations, I looked up to the east end of a Canal St. building rooftop and observed an adult Peregrine feeding the two growing chicks. It was quite a show and easy to observe from the bridge! Flight images included!
